MySpace Mobile to Undergo Makeover

Design standards on the Internet are constantly changing. Mobile Web is not an exception to this principle. Users generally expect services based in their mobile browsers to provide a good ocular feel, similar to a native application.

Based on these parameters, MySpace is planning to come up with a new version of its mobile portal. This new version will also be compatible with S60 and webOS, the platform which will be launched with Palm’s highly acclaimed, Pre. In the years to come, the social network is expecting 50% of the traffic from mobiles. So it is more sensible to refresh the mobile portal.

The new site, above all else, may really help the company enhance its own standing in the mobile space. In fact, the social network’s trademark blue colour of the header and footer was not there in the older version. The details about the launch have not yet been disclosed. However, one can expect the site to go live during Chris DeWolfe’s Mobile World Congress keynote scheduled for Thursday.

As mentioned earlier, MySpace has announced its plans to support Symbian S60 and Palm’s webOS. At present, the site already supports Android, BlackBerry OS, Sidekick OS and the iPhone. MySpace supports almost every key smart-phone platform except Windows Mobile.
