Yahoo launches BrowserPlus in a nick of time

After almost a year, and to everyone’s surprise, Yahoo suddenly offered a “sneak peak” preview of its new software, Yahoo!BrowserPlus in a times when it can result anything, use or abuse. From all that we know, BrowserPlus is being held as a tool for “extending the web” through a simple-to-complete web applications development processes.

If released, BrowserPlus would give users the ability to update and add new services offline and without the need to restart or reload a browser page. BrowserPlus would benefit both the users as well as the web application developers since it doesn’t require web browse reloading. Users can easily add new services without the need to run the installers. While on the other hand, developers can check and activate new services with a single function call, which is of course subject to user approval. BrowserPlus will mainly be handling software distribution and updates for users.

Yahoo has made available some of the BrowserPlus sampler demo applications to demonstrate how it actually works. This demo version includes a web in-page Flickr photo uploader, browser based Internet Relay Chat, and client developer tools for exploring Web Services output.

BrowserPlus seems like any other online image management tool, where it allows you to upload photos directly from your PC.

BrowserPlus is currently available only in demo mode, so wouldn’t find something interesting enough about it. But let’s assume that in sometime, once BrowserPlus is officially released, we would find out whether it offers something better into the crowd or just another application.
