Top word for 2009 – ‘Twitter’!
Tweet Tweet!
Twitter just placed the cherry on the cake, by officially being voted the top word of the year 2009!
According to a recent search by the Global Language Monitor, which strategically examines the word usage from around the world, Twitter blew past Obama, H1N1, stimulus and vampire to take first place as the top most word of this year.
With a turn of events that has shaken the world – political, natural calamities, the death of the king of pop, a dreadful pandemic and a financial downfall, Twitter has risen as the victor.
The president of the Global language Monitor, Paul JJ Payack stated “Twitter represents a new form of social interaction, where all communication is reduced to 140 characters. Being limited to strict formats did wonders for the sonnet and haiku. One wonders where this highly impractical word-limit will lead as the future unfolds.”
This entire year, blogs, social media and words and phrases used in the media or internet, were carefully tracked down with a unique proprietary algorithm known as Predictive quantities Indicator, favourably used by the Global Language Monitor.
Result – Twitter just got Bigger!
