Meebo is the New Friend of MySpace and Facebook

MySpace and Facebook may be sworn ‘frenemies’. However, the latest development is that they will now have a brand new common buddy that will act as a mediator between the two of them. ‘Meebo’ is an Internet Messenger application that is Internet based. It will now back up the Internet Messenger accounts for Myspace as well as Facebook.

This basically means that users can put their account identifications for accessing Facebook and MySpace into the Meebo website and log in to both services. In this way users can talk to their buddies on Facebook as well as Myspace online, in a single Internet Messenger box. The combination of these two social networks will take place on Meebo.com and also on Meebo’s ‘Community IM’ partner websites.

Although the association with MySpace is legitimate, Meebo simply back-engineered the IM on Facebook. Therefore, if Facebook chooses to alter its Internet Messenger rules of conduct, the Meebo combination could snap till its engineers fix it. On the other hand, the MySpace combination has been developed with legitimate API’s. It also integrates all the MySpace Internet Messenger safety characteristics.

Meebo even provides a back up for ‘AIM’, ‘Gtalk’, ‘MSN Messenger’, ‘Yahoo Messenger’, ‘Jabber’, and ‘ICQ’ accounts. It has declared that it has 40 million members who communicate at the rate of 5 billion messages per month.
