Google Radio Ads Shut Down

Google is getting rid off its Google Audio Ads as well as its Adsense for Audio items. It has also decided to sell the software part of the company, Google Radio Automation. These decisions have been arrived at not even a month after Google’s decision to end the print ad sales. The selling of print advertisements was one more failed experiment aimed at growing past Internet advertising. According to Google at least 40 employees will be told to leave. The reason for these layoffs is due to the demise of the broadcast radio ad part of the company.

The decision by Google even marks the collapse of the dMarc Broadcasting acquisition by Google. This dMarc acquisition was worth $102 million when it took place just two years previously. This acquisition was the supporting platform for these businesses. The acquisition value of dMarc Broadcasting could have gone up to a massive $1.13 billion had the business been successful in reaching particular milestones. However the radio stations as well as their owner organisations did not land up giving Google the advertising stock that it required in order to turn it into an actual business. This was inspite of Google’s absolute effort to try and purchase market share.
