The online giant recently launched Google Map Maker, a new addition by Google Inc. that allows users to contribute as well as edit Maps data for regions across the globe.

Google Map Maker promises to be a user-friendly tool to create high quality maps of countries, cities and neighborhoods. The Map Maker enables users to add, edit and moderate nearly all features on maps including cities, points of interest, roads, lakes, localities, parks, and businesses. Moreover, several such features will be traceable with the help of satellite images, since users trace maps get immediately updated.

At present, it is possible to build maps in Vietnam, Cyprus, Pakistan, Iceland and the Caribbean nations of; Barbados, Antigua & Barbuda, Bermuda, Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Netherlands Antilles, British Virgin Islands, Jamaica, Grenada, St. Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Vincent & the Grenadines. The prevailing mapping data for these nations would tremendously benefit from local awareness and know-how that users as well as other map maker possess.
