Former Google Workers Launch Search Rival Cuil
A team of ex-Google engineers recently launched a rival online search engine ‘Cuil’ and described it as an enhanced version of the world’s most accepted Web-sourcing tool. Cuil’s creators are targeting at their former workplace, claiming that they out search the search leader when it comes to depth and breadth over the Web.
In a posting on the website that hit the Web at www.cuil.com, Cuil’s founders expressed the Internet getting bigger and disorganized every day. They said that the group has developed new algorithms and architecture to handle the exponential Internet growth and organize results that reflect its massive complexity.
The fresh developed search engine said that unlike Google, which allegedly pays no attention to obscure or seldom visited sites in its index, Cuil does not discriminate.
120 billion Internet pages have already been packed in Cuil’s index, and it said that size does matter as several people make use of the Internet in order to search information that is of interest to them, even though it is not popular.
The founders of Cuil include Russell Power, Louis Monier and Anna Patterson – all being Google’s former employees. Power and Patterson worked on Google’s ‘TeraGoogle’ search index while Monier qualified in search engine design.
It is too early to say whether Cuil will be successful in taking on the internet search giant. This is because Google dominates internet search with above 60% of the market and has become extremely popular across the world. In fact, analysts too believe that Google has become so well-established in culture, which will make difficult for anyone to beat.
