Change your perception! Flash is no more an enemy of Search Engines
Internet users have been reading about the strong tug of war between designers and SEO experts over the optimization of Flash-based websites for search engine marketing. Most of the authorities had concluded that Flash is the number one enemy of search engines.
It is a fact that graphic content of Flash makes it difficult for the search engine spiders to crawl it. Designers touted Flash for aesthetic whereas SEO experts touted it for indexing ability. Marketers were happy with HTML, but the designers favoured Flash as it provided them opportunity to present their creativity. Marketers were worried about dip in their search rankings due to Flash.
But happy days are here again for both designers as well as the marketers. The emerging technologies are taking care of their top objectives. The search engines work fine with Flash now.
The sad part is many people are not aware of these new developments. Talking about unawareness, a search expert narrated his experience with one site which was designed in Flash. The site won many accolades from industry and customers for enhancing site experience. But the webmaster decided to scrap the site on learning that Flash is the number one enemy of search engines. It required lot of counselling from the expert to convince the site owner that emerging technologies have removed that drawback and Flash and search engines can go together.
The experts advise not to automatically scrap your Flash site solely on one objective without first considering the consequences and potential alternatives.
