Facebook is Two Times Bigger than MySpace

Almost one out of five people who access Internet log on to Facebook, which is continuing the upward march! According to Comscore statistics, in December 2008 nearly 222 million people logged in to the website. Last November, Facebook managed to attract 200 million visitors globally. The month over month growth rate in this case is nearly 10.8%. Almost 22% of the browsers visited Facebook during the month of December. Currently, Facebook’s total user base across the world is bigger tahead of MySpace by 100 million. Incidentally, the latter was able to get hold of 4 million users more in December thereby taking its total users to 125 million. The page view difference, apparently, is more shocking. Facebook got 80 billion page views for the month of December and MySpace had 43 billion. Just about six months ago, both the sites were moving closer on this count.

Facebook, still a private company, has been able to acquire the status of being the default social network across the world. MySpace has continued to dominate the scene in the US. Trends, however, suggest that 2009 might be the last year that MySpace does so. By January 2010, one can expect Facebook to go beyond it and become the primary social network in US as well.
