AlertThingy Gets New Version

‘AlertThingy’ has been discussed quite frequently many times before. The latest announcement declared that AlertThingy version 2 was planning to provide back up for ‘Digg’, ‘Facebook’, ‘Jaiku’, ‘Pownce’ as well as ‘Tumblr’ along with ‘Twitter’, ‘Flickr’ and even ‘FriendFeed’. The launch did not take place at the time it was supposed to and the end result was not quite as it was planned.

Back up with regards to Pownce is no longer required. However, the other declared combinations are a part of this new version, along with the adjoining of the ‘TinyURL’ service. Strangly though, the creators of AlertThingy has declared that they will not provide any more back up with regards to FriendFeed in this version. This is a rather strange decision by them, considering that AlertThingy did release as a FriendFeed desktop operation to start with.

There is a rather easy explanation for this. AlertThingy would like to be the most preferred social desktop operation. However, in reality this conflicts with the concept of FriendFeed, that collates all the social networking content within the user’s Internet service provider. People fond of AlertThingy have no reason to be anxious, however. This is because now there’s an exclusive ‘FriendFeed-only’ edition of the application provided side by side with the latest ‘normal’ edition.
