Keyword research for your website
It makes much more sense to have just a few pages that will assure your website a less number of highly keyword concentrated pages than a large number pages resulting in less-targeted traffic. A large number of pages will cause clutter. You may consider the approach provided each one of them ensures highly targeted traffic.
There is no substitute, you would agree, for a rigorous keyword research with help of SEO experts who will be in a position to determine which of them (keywords) can generate focused traffic for your website. This is the core criteria to select and insert keywords.
This SEO research should be deftly dovetailed with your competitive content research. If the two activities are carried in sync at some point of time, it will help to work out the keywords that will be spread throughout the copy putting you at par with the websites you are most likely to compete with.
Wordtracker is recommended as probably the most efficient tools to ‘track’ a vast number of related and relevant keywords. It also helps in working out how much traffic each of the keywords found is likely to generate.
For many of the websites that are managed by able SEOs, the common experience is that well over half of the customer traffic online is derived from the slightly longish and specific phrases.
Importantly, experience shows that such focused traffic will invariably get converted at a much higher level (from business point of view) than generic, ubiquitous 1 or 2-word keyword phrases. So, the whole point is to make sure that the keywords must ensure:
1. A rankings boost
2. Higher sales conversions
3. Many more web pages indexed in some of the top search engine like Google
All of the above are indicators of a successful keyword selection that will definitely lead to a healthier bottom line for your online business!
