The new algorithm, according to sources in the industry would bring a new ‘revolution’ in the way search engine industry. Ori Allon, a graduate from Israel and a PhD student at the University of New South Wales, was working on this algorithm when Google came to know about him. The University of New South Wales, in a press release in September 2005 had given some information about this project. The project was named as Orion Search Engine. The exact details about the project and its features are still very much a secret. Neither Allon nor Google has given out any details about the project.
The project is scheduled to be completed within the next one and a half year. The ownership of the Orion would however be with the University as Allon was working with its PhD program. Analysts believe that the University is likely to receive millions of dollars in royalty from Google for Orion for giving a license to Google.
