How to get out of Google Sandbox

Google being one of the best search engines worldwide, one can only pray and hope to enlist one’s website high up in the Google indexing as soon as possible. But when things are going right in other search engines and NOT in Google, it can be really disappointing and frustrating. Chances are very bright, that the website has been tossed into the Google sandbox. To cut the chase and put it crudely, its Google’s waste paper basket where sites are listed on the basis of filtering that Google has incorporated in its indexing algorithm. After all, Google wants to prevent spammers with useless sites to be indexed in their results, thereby attempting to yield dependable and authentic results.

To feature in Google’s high ranks, one must optimistically wait for about 6-8 months before tasting success. Age definitely acts as a determinant in the ranking of a website and the phenomenon of delay in inclusion is what is known as Google sandbox. Google purposely does this to encourage webmasters to focus on content rather than networking of their websites. Many websites for early SEO success get carried away by depending more on backlinks and focus less on quality substance. It takes a while for Google to trust your website. A few points that one must keep in mind to get listed in Google TrustRank rather than its Sandbox are as follows: -

  • One’s website must stand the test of time. Reasonably, a site must prove its prowess of crawls over months, if not years. This is a golden thumb rule Google employs and cannot be speeded up in any way. Google is generally averse in enlisting new domain names and stays patient in developing a certain degree of trust on a website.
  • There must be no compromise whatsoever on the content one puts on his website. Remember, it’s the content that gives Google instant indexing incentive as compared to small-time mini links to other pages. The content must be informative, accurate, authentic and interesting; leading to searchers actively visiting and respecting a website. This would also include making one’s website structurally acquiescent for search engines by virtue of solid sitemaps and organized structural indexing of one’s website.
  • Good incoming links are also vital for an exit from the Google Sandbox. Incoming links from quality websites and that too for a long time is important for Google to notice one’s website. Google will only enlist websites after it notices it firstly. The links must be well-optimized on one’s site leading to different pages; in essence expanding the horizons of one’s website. Trustworthy sources increase Google’s trust (and hence rankings) on one’s website.
  • Getting listed in popular paid directories also gives concrete links to one’s website. It may be a touch expensive, but worth the cost for backlink optimization.
